The surprisingly dramatic role of nutrition in mental health | Julia Rucklidge | TEDxChristchurch

A good follow on from the previous post on how doctors do not know enough about nutrition and exercise. Dr Julia Rucklidge talks about how the rate of mental illness on is on the rise and that the stages of treatment go from medical to therapy then alternative methods. She gives several statistics that paint the picture that the current system is not working.

Shocking facts include:

Recover and relapse rates are no better now than they were 50 years ago when anti-depressants were first introduced.

Children with depression administered with anti-depressants are three times more likely to convert to bipolar disorder.

She then goes on to talk about nutrition. Specifically administration of micro-nutrients as a cure and her own studies and others that have shown incredibly powerful results. Not only do studies show that nutrition can help cure diseases but also to prevent them in the first place.

Well worth a watch.
