Sugar is the ‘alcohol of the child’, yet we let it dominate the breakfast table – The Guardian

An article from The Guardian on how children are consuming half their recommended daily allowance of sugar in their first meal of the day. The article includes several key statistics on the sugar content in breakfast foods and alarmingly points out the high sugar content in foods for toddlers. Especially alarming considering that a lot of countries are in an obesity epidemic and it does not look like positive action is being taken to improve childrens’ diets. Considering the links between sugar, obesity and a host of terrible diseases that this site has covered before, illustrates this is a big issue that has to be addressed. Well worth a read.
